A Shout-Out to Those Working with Me: 13 April 2024

North Shore development: A shout out… thanks to those working with me.

Recent times have been the worst of construction times. We are getting through it together.

Touching wood, the new era is emerging.

Self funding a new accessible housing and energy efficient micro-community on the North Shore (for sale on the private market).

Using trusted teams and contract management.

It was a hard slog getting the consents sorted out. Significant delays.

BUT we are rolling.

What is good:

Fair pricing.

Good oversight.

Common sense being shown by all — finding the best way of executing each step.

Self funding and staging removes the financial risk and pressure (for me and my contractors).

My own finance has its own cost but it is a fraction of external finance. I am not constrained!

First pre-sale going under contract now.

Kirsty Merriman
For years I would plan houses, travel widely and observe communities. I also had the privilege of working for New Zealand's largest dairy company in both New Zealand and Malaysia. All the while supported by my husband and young daughter. After a while, our roles swapped and we moved to the Arabian Gulf. Meanwhile my passion for property and communities continued to simmer.

Along came COVID and had no choice but to pivot... in the words of Robert Frost, I looked for and "found the road less travelled by" and decided that maybe I could "make [a] the difference".

I look for to find insights and built a few of the houses that we need. This means a saleable house and a profitable and sustainable business.
