AI and Me: Meet Ruru, Tui, and Percy

A fortnight of elevation. Automation is fun but the best thing for me is the elevation, or ‘enlightenment’, that AI brings. From my AI start, the main attraction has been the enhancement: connecting my ideas better, accessing more information, and understanding more. I am the sovereign of my own mind and thinking.

Over the past two weeks I have cemented it all. My second brain is fully functional, accessing my extensive database right down to the most detailed questions. For example: “I remember an email conversation with XYZ where he said they are applying a code, but it was the wrong code. Please link me to that conversation.” Bingo, I have it. It did take two weeks to load the database.

My second brain currently covers all of my project finances since the dawn of time, all infrastructure work (2,700 saved items), and all project work since 2018. Now all at my fingertips.

Ruru runs this and is my personal librarian and knowledge navigator, cross-checking and updating every night.

I have Percy, who is my Engineer to the Contract and runs a team of eight specialists. Percy issues Advice Notes on fully formatted, branded, and logged documents. I ask a question and out comes a considered response for me to decide on, with all references stated.

Then there is Tui, my high-level debating chamber (renamed from ‘Kirsty’s Council’ thanks to some insight provided). All outputs are logged and referenced. This has been a powerful resource in the short time it has been running. The outputs have screened several of my documents prior to submitting to legal counsel to support matters.

And then I have been able to play with audio and video, which has been fun.

Note: my daughter is horrified. Not only is my video so ‘AI’, I am apparently taking jobs away. My answer: yes, the video is AI, that is the point. And as for jobs, no-one was able to do it for me. I could do it myself, but not within my human bandwidth.

Safety? Yes, all exported onto two external drives, also backed up to the cloud. The database is held in .md form locally. Claude only has access to selected folders. Scheduled back-ups occur mid-day. Activities run at night. If my LLM disappears, I know how it works, I have the knowledge, and I return to ‘slow mode.’

About the author
Kirsty Merriman
For years I would plan houses, travel widely and observe communities. I also had the privilege of working for New Zealand's largest dairy company in both New Zealand and Malaysia. All the while supported by my husband and young daughter. After a while, our roles swapped and we moved to the Arabian Gulf. Meanwhile my passion for property and communities continued to simmer.

Along came COVID and had no choice but to pivot... in the words of Robert Frost, I looked for and "found the road less travelled by" and decided that maybe I could "make [a] the difference".

I look for to find insights and built a few of the houses that we need. This means a saleable house and a profitable and sustainable business.
