Construction Contracts Act 2002 [repeat]: 24 June 2023

My render here is solely as an attention grab (Thanks to The Development Collective) – it is a marketing ploy because I am really reposting an item about invoicing as there was little notice taken of it.

For me, this is one of the most important things I have learned about in the recent past and I want to share it (consultants and trades in particular).

I can not say enough for all who work in construction, how important this invoicing detail is. Unfortunately, it runs under the radar because it seems complicated.

It is not complicated:

(1) Prepare a compliant detailed invoice for your construction work and ADD ON TO IT “issued under the CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTS ACT 2002”.

(2) Download the FREE FORM 1 from the MBIE website or in the files section here.

(3). Put the two forms together and Bingo, you have done your business a massive good service should you have a reluctant communicator or payer.

(4). Conversely, it means that YOU have to respect others who issue invoices under the Act. You must respond with a compliant written payment schedule prior to the payment date IF you dispute the amount claimed.

All the while supported by my husband and young daughter. After a while, our roles swapped and we moved to the Arabian Gulf. Meanwhile my passion for property and communities continued to simmer.

Along came COVID and had no choice but to pivot... in the words of Robert Frost, I looked for and "found the road less travelled by" and decided that maybe I could "make [a] the difference".

I look for to find insights and built a few of the houses that we need. This means a saleable house and a profitable and sustainable business.
