It has been a full on nine months for me putting energy into submissions and voicing my opinions….

But meanwhile I have managed to keep my own business trucking along… and in a difficult macro environment.

This post celebrates the trades supporting my builds.

I am building responsible homes built for people with the environment in mind. They are compact and ‘efficient’ along with being accessible i.e. anyone can live in them and have a low impact on the environment.

What I want to show is that the little things matter — what is BEHIND the walls.

The fine attention to detail that EVERY TRADE can deliver — it really matters to me.

Precision in placing pipework.
Neatness in the fixings.
Price in the honing.

Thanks guys (no girls on site except for me!).

LOVE ALL OF YOUR WORK!

About the author
Kirsty Merriman
For years I would plan houses, travel widely and observe communities. I also had the privilege of working for New Zealand's largest dairy company in both New Zealand and Malaysia. All the while supported by my husband and young daughter. After a while, our roles swapped and we moved to the Arabian Gulf. Meanwhile my passion for property and communities continued to simmer.

Along came COVID and had no choice but to pivot... in the words of Robert Frost, I looked for and "found the road less travelled by" and decided that maybe I could "make [a] the difference".

I look for to find insights and built a few of the houses that we need. This means a saleable house and a profitable and sustainable business.
