Park Drainage: 24 January 2023
A wee bedtime story:

Once upon a time Ms Grumpy had some nice land bordering a pretty park. After a lot of rain, one year, a small river began to run and a wee puppy dog got caught in some horrible deep mud. Ms Grumpy was very sad seeing scared puppy’s eyes as puppy desperately tried to scramble out, so she went and looked at the park drains and saw that some outlets were not working properly. Maybe, this was making the ground worse than it should have been. She was very sad and used the internet to contact a very helpful local park owner. She was happy because their notice said it was critical – whew, it will be fixed and no more puppies will be hurt or scared.
The rain came again – the extra water kept coming in. So, Ms Grumpy put in her own drains to help save the stray and wandering puppies. Fortunately, it got a bit better – but it wasn’t fixed.

More calls were made to the nice people: get through the start of the phone call choosing numbers to press and listening to a nice voice, meet a really nice person who says hello and cares, she tells them all of her problems, then they all say, “would you be okay if I put you on hold so I can talk to my supervisor?.” “Yes,” she declares joyfully, and after several minutes is gifted a ‘new’ reference number. Ms Grumpy now has a nice set of reference numbers – she wonders if she should collect them to store on her window sill? One time, someone even comes to visit. This was the best!
“Oh,” they report, “this belongs to Community Facilities, someone should follow-up with you shortly”…Five days later, she telephones the nice helpful people again and explains her problems – gets put on hold and told that no one has taken ownership of this…they send an email to the appropriate team…and Ms Grumpy gets a new reference number.
Ms Grumpy knows it is just rinse and repeat…Ms Grumpy is trying to work out how to get the problem sorted out…hmmmm, thinking cap on.
